First, you must ensure that your strategy is laid out, and know
when to
Start-up with easier strategies, such as Industrial or even Casher.
All
instructions are pretty straight forward on most strategies today,
and
only then -ok, newbie tip- move on to the harder reseller or farmer.
In order to be successful at Earth, you need to have a combination
of
factors.
Once you are in-game, you need to realize that success is measured
in net worth, land, population, military and technology. It is only
through a combination between those, at a balanced level linking
diplomacy, economics and military that you will succeed in Earth:
2025. However, ultimate success comes ONLY with specialization, and
it is through a strategy of some sort that you will achieve it.
The alliance you belong to reigns somewhere up there, as one of the
main pillars holding these factors. Telling you at this point you should
chose a good alliance, with a decent 'track record' should be
unnecessary.
Have common sense in all that you do. Don't sell things on the market
at
prices so weird that you'll receive phone calls from the Swirve people
suing
you for crashing their game (as if...). Take care of your strategy,
and be
clear headed in your decisions. Don't attack at a whim, don't lose
food -it's
ok to lose food every turn, but be damn weary it doesn't go in the
'-' region,
don't engage in congress with other people's countries :)
Tech through hell and back. It's vital for your country to keep those
babies
up.
At first, only concentrate on the needed technologies that you must
develop. Since you're starting off, you need as much money,
population and military might as you can. So, concentrate on
Residential, Business, Weapons and even Military. Only after the
switch to whatever other stage you would like should you gradually
build up the rest of your technologies.
Always keep your technologies up to their maximum levels. Once
you're pretty deep into the game, this will be vital for your game
play.
Get good teching allies from other people in your alliance. These will
bring you the little something that adds the cherry to the whole cake.
Know when to land grab.
Right out of protection is a good idea, especially if you're a Commi
bastard. Target Democracies, Republics and Monarchies (?), since
they're land fat and are probably starting to concentrate on teching.
Top tenners, Republics and Democracies -same idea: Land grab.
Repeat on someone else.
Do searches. The greatest thing about Gamerstown and EZClan, as
the largest established alliance hosting services is that you can do
searches for that nice, juicy country you're just going to gang rape.
Remember ratios. Country numbers come with country info. Do check
to see whether the spy report is new -unless you want to forever be
known as the 'wasted kamikaze'
Get yourself some good allies. Once you're out of protection and in
your
land grabbing spree, you should have some allies which can help you
militarily, as well as technology wise.
Keep your Buildings/Turn ratio up there. This is both vital for your
growth,
the first couple of weeks, but also for rebuilding in case of large
land grabs,
wars, etc
Bottom feed. It's simple. Instead of attacking the first large alliance
guy you
see in your net worth range, and ensuring yourself a nice retaliation
strike
back from him, you'd rather find a poor defenseless soul -clanner or
small
alliance you have no relations with- and gang rape him. They can't
hit you
because they'd be scared of the Net Worth difference b/w them and
yourself, and it's better in the long run if you use this strategy.
Attacking
large countries, known alliances and experienced players is not always
a
feasible solution, especially if you want to end up in one piece. Don't
overshoot the land grabbing frenzy, since small clans might actually
have a
limit over which they turn banzai on your ass.
Stockpiling: Get money. Buy things on the market, sell them off at a
slightly
higher price. Make money (under 2 bil -game bug). Once you're three
quarters in the game or so, start buying bushels of food like crazy.
Do it
before prices start skyrocketing. When they've reached their peak,
wait for
it until they start going down, and then sell off your bushels. You'll
jump in
net worth...I understand you can do the same with tech too, but I doubt
it's as effective, not to mention that the tech market doesn't seem
to be as
stable.
